Materials: hand-carved porcelain
In this series each ring is carved from from a single bone-hard block of porcelain. Each one is one-off, each one is unique. The crafting of these objects is a very essence of their meaning, the value of the object.
Lena wanted to give others, through those items, her most precious, most imaginative time, involve all her knowledge and skills, so to say- craftsmanship. Each ring is about 3 hours of precise carving, sculpturing, and really poetic work. Very slow process, very creative process, without technical work like in the process of slip casting or other mass production techniques. The artist is as close to the object as possible. She would like to think that someone will own it, and use it, actually taking it into their lives, this is meaningful. From hand to hand- this is a new luxury.
